Creag Meagaidh Hydro Scheme is a 30kW scheme that was built on the Nature Reserve, near Laggan, for SNH. We were fully responsible for all of the scheme, from design phase right through to completing all Civil Engineering aspects of the scheme, which included:
- Constructing the In-River Water Intake, complete with Header Tank.
- Constructing new weir and Header Tank for the estates private water supply.
- Installing 940 metres of 315mm diameter HDPE pipeline for the scheme and 600metres of 90mm HDPE for the water supply.
- Construct Powerhouse, complete with Tailrace and Headwall.
The scheme has been running extremely successfully for the client and it thought to continue to do so for many years. The water is passed through a Hydrover Turbine with 60m head, which generates the power for use by the Nature Reserve. The Reserve is now almost completely self-efficient, as the works have provided Power, Heat and Water.
